We want to update our families on the School Reopening Plan process. The Utah State Board of Education and Governor Herbert approved planning requirements and recommendations the end of last week. Our administrative team and safety coordinator are now able to complete Summit’s plan which will then go to the Board of Trustees for review, input, and final approval at their July 16th board meeting. Once approved, we will then publish our plan on the school’s website.
Information we can share currently is that schools are forming safety measures to be back in the classroom based on seven environmental characteristics (see the attached visual). Staff and students will be taught how to mitigate risk in relation to these seven characteristics. We share these at this time, so families are informed and may have discussions regarding these characteristics.
We realize some families or students may have a higher risk and not be able to be in school, so part of our reopening plan will provide a way for those individuals to continue their educational experience with Summit Academy and Summit Academy High School.
We will continue to update you as plans are finalized and share resources to understand what school will look like in the fall. We are excited to be able to reopen safely!
